Airconditioning & Refrigeration Technician

The Trustee for FONG FAMILY TRUST provides installation, service and maintenance of residential
and light-to-medium commercial HVAC&R systems, including split/ducted AC, VRV/VRF, packaged
units, cool rooms/freezer rooms and small chillers. As demand grows, we are expanding our field
team and seeking a qualified Airconditioning & Refrigeration Mechanic to join us.

The Role
You’ll carry out installation, fault-finding, repairs and scheduled maintenance for a diverse client
base. You’ll work independently on the road, liaise with customers on site, complete job
documentation and uphold safety, quality and environmental compliance at all times.

Key Responsibilities
 Install, commission and service split, ducted and VRV/VRF systems; repair compressors,
fans, TX valves, controls and sensors.
 Diagnose refrigeration faults on cool rooms/freezers, small chillers and packaged units;
perform leak detection, pressure testing, evacuation and charging.
 Conduct preventive maintenance (filters, belts, coils, electrical terminations), performance
checks and optimisation.
 Complete ARCtick refrigerant handling and recovery in line with Ozone Protection & SGG
regulations; maintain accurate refrigerant and service records.
 Read and interpret wiring diagrams/schematics; test electrical components (under relevant
licence/permit).
 Prepare clear service reports, parts lists and recommendations; communicate professionally
with clients and the scheduler.
 Follow WHS procedures, complete JSA/SWMS, and keep company vehicle, tools and stock in
good order.

What You Bring (Essential)
 Certificate III in Air-conditioning and Refrigeration (or equivalent trade qualification).
 Current driver’s licence.
 Proven experience in domestic and/or light commercial HVAC&R installation, service and
breakdowns.
 Strong fault-finding, customer service and time-management skills.
 Ability to work independently and participate in an on-call roster when required.

Nice to Have (Highly Regarded)
 Experience with VRV/VRF (Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Fujitsu, etc.).
 Experience with cool rooms/freezers and small chiller plants.
 Restricted Electrical Licence/Disconnect–Reconnect (where applicable).

 White Card, EWP, and other site inductions.
 Basic BMS/interface experience and digital service apps.
