You will combine modern LLM and Machine Learning approaches with robust software architecture, systematic evaluation, and a clear focus on security, data protection, and user value.
You will take responsibility from the initial hypothesis through prototyping and benchmarking to deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement. If you want to not only demonstrate AI systems but also reliably bring them into application, we look forward to receiving your application.
Your Daily Business
- Design, development, and operation of production-ready Legal AI systems based on modern, model-independent frameworks and AI best practices
- Development of Generative AI and LLM applications, especially Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Agentic AI, agent, and tool-use workflows, as well as structured information extraction
- Conception of data, retrieval, and inference pipelines for complex legal documents and knowledge bases
- Selection and integration of suitable models and providers, considering quality, latency, costs, data protection, and operational security
- Development of robust evaluation and benchmarking frameworks for technical accuracy, retrieval quality, robustness, and reliability
- Building and maintaining test datasets, automated evaluation pipelines, and meaningful quality metrics
- Analysis of error patterns and systematic optimization of prompts, prompt engineering, chunking, retrieval, ranking, tool usage, and system architecture
- Monitoring, LLMOps, and continuous improvement of AI systems in productive operation
- Close collaboration with Legal Engineers, Software Engineers, Lawyers, Product, and other interdisciplinary teams
- Technical documentation as well as ensuring safe, traceable, and responsible AI use
Your Path to Us
Technical and Professional Qualifications
- Practical experience in AI Engineering, Machine Learning Engineering, Applied AI, Data Science with production responsibility, or a comparable role
- Very good Python skills and experience with modern AI, Machine Learning, and Generative AI frameworks and libraries
- Demonstrable experience in building production-ready LLM applications, not just prompting or prototyping
- In-depth understanding of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), embeddings, semantic search, vector databases, chunking, ranking, and context management
- Experience with systematic evaluation of generative AI systems, including test datasets, quality metrics, automated tests, and human evaluation
- Nice to have: Experience with LLMOps, MLOps, tracing, guardrails, red teaming, or the evaluation of hallucinations and uncertainty
- Nice to have: Experience in processing complex documents, e.g., PDF, DOCX, or XML, including parsing, layout analysis, and OCR
- Nice to have: Experience in Legal Tech, RegTech, or other knowledge-intensive and regulated areas
