AI Solutions Architect (m/w/d)

We are looking for an experienced developer, a team Passerelle, a 2025 in Berlin founded KI-consulting firm from the trade union environment. Our name is Program: Passerelle means Bridge. We are taking on the task of building this bridge into the future - a bridge that enables real technological progress and at the same time creates better working conditions. Founded by experienced heads from the tech and consulting worlds as well as applied KI science, we combine strategic C-level foresight with deep technical expertise. We accompany organizations and institutions on their path into a KI-based future, from strategic consulting to value-oriented technical implementation and sustainable adoption in operation. Besides our transformation mandates, we also develop our own software products for digital sovereignty.

As AI Solutions Architect, you will take up a key position with us: You are the decisive link between our strategic consulting and technological implementation. As one of the first dedicated engineering hires, you will shape the build-up of our technical implementation force significantly and lay the technical foundation for customer projects and product development, with the clear perspective of building an engineering team and strategically leading it as the company grows.

Since we are a young company, there is no rigid silo thinking here. Your role thrives on dynamic allocation that develops further with us:

Architektur & Prototyping (~50%):

• Systemarchitektur: You design scalable end-to-end architectures for KI applications (e.g., RAG pipelines, multi-agent systems) and plan their integration into existing IT landscapes.
• Funktionale Prototypen (PoCs): You conceptualize and build prototype models yourself to quickly make complex use cases tangible and convince customer committees.
• Produktentwicklung: You shape the technical concept and logical structure of our own software tools for Gute Arbeit.

Technische Beratung & Delivery (~30%):

• Technologie-Evaluierung: You evaluate tech stacks independently (e.g., commercial APIs vs. self-hosted Open Source, EU hosting vs. hyperscalers) and make trade-offs for decision-makers understandable.
• Schnittstelle & Kunden-Steuerung: You take the technical lead in projects, translate professional requirements into blueprints, and steer communication with internal IT departments of customers.
• LLMOps & Governance: You are responsible for concepts for testing, monitoring, and guardrails and anchor them - together with ethics and legal expertise - according to the principle Compliance by Design (EU AI Act, data protection).

Pre-Sales & Tech-Strategie (~20%):

• Sales-Enablement & Scoping: You accompany the founding team at pitches, translate customer wishes into feasible tech concepts, and set boundaries on what we can technologically achieve and want.
• „Make-or-Buy“-Entscheidungen: You keep an overview of our technical capabilities. You decide fundamenteally when we develop solutions ourselves, when we buy external services or tools, and at what point a fixed internal team buildup is strategically necessary.
• Tech-Leadership as Perspective: You are the technical sparring partner for the founding team and shape the hiring and structure of our future engineering team with growing company growth.

Qualifikation

• Fundierte Erfahrung: At least 5 years in software engineering, system architecture or data-/ML-engineering, with noticeable practice with productive GenAI systems.
• Aktuelle KI-Praxis & Frameworks: Noticeable practical experience with the productive use of GenAI (LLMs, RAG architectures, agent-based patterns) in recent years. You are absolutely sure in handling Python as well as modern frameworks like LangChain, LlamaIndex, LangGraph and MCP.
• Hands-on-Builder (T-shaped): You design architectures not only on the whiteboard but also build functioning prototypes yourself. You know your way around cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) just as well as on-premise setups and bring a conscious approach to digital sovereignty.
• Beratungsstärke & Kommunikationsgeschick: You have already experience in mandate work or close customer cooperation. You can translate complex deep-tech topics for the C-level, departmental staff, and committees. German and English you speak confidently.
• Strategisches Denken: You think beyond the code. You have a sense of feasibility, can assess resources correctly, and are eager to take on the leadership of an engineering team as the company grows.
