Job description

About CHAPTERS Group

CHAPTERS Group is a publicly listed German holding company that acquires and holds vertical software companies. In the last five years, we have grown tenfold and today own more than 60 companies. Each runs its own business, close to its customers. We make them stronger without taking the wheel out of their hands. AI is one of the biggest opportunities we see for them. However, it only works if the people in these companies actually use it.

The Role

You will be part of the AI Core Team in the Office of the CTO and work as a Forward Deployed Engineer, close to the companies in our group. You will operate our AI Hub, an Open WebUI-based AI platform, for more than 10 companies. You will bring in what you see in the field, test new capabilities, and help shape the platform for all 60+ companies.

German (C1+) and English are mandatory.

What You Will Do

  • Operate the AI Hub for 10+ Companies: Deployments, updates, configuration, SSO with Entra ID, monitoring, backups, and incident handling

  • Onboard Companies and Teams: Set up skills, knowledge bases, and tools so that each company can work productively with the hub

  • Be the Technical Point of Contact: If something fails or a champion gets stuck, you will analyze and resolve it. You will document recurring issues so they only need to be solved once

  • Connect the Hub Where a Use Case Requires It: Microsoft 365 / Graph, CRM, Ticketing, and ERP systems via tools, MCP servers, and REST APIs

  • Transform Recurring Questions into Reusable Components: Documentation, templates, and short hands-on sessions

  • Work in the AI Core Team: Share patterns across companies, test new features, and feed insights into the platform roadmap

  • Occasionally Support the M&A Team (approximately 10 to 20% of your time) with technical questions, for example, when evaluating the tech and AI stack of acquisition targets

What You Bring

Mandatory

  • German (C1 or higher) and fluent English. You will work daily in German with managing directors and non-technical teams. We make no exceptions here.

  • Experience in Production Operation. You have deployed and operated containerized applications in production (Docker, CI/CD, Linux, a major cloud, Azure preferred) and were responsible when they failed. This usually means at least 2 years in a DevOps, Platform, SRE, or Backend role.

  • Python, which you can confidently read, debug, and extend

  • Hands-on experience with LLMs. You seriously use them in your own daily work, have built something with them professionally or privately, and know where they fail.

  • You explain technology in a way that non-technical people can understand and act upon. You enjoy being the technical point of contact for teams without a technical background.

Strong Signals

  • Enterprise Identity: Entra ID, OAuth, SSO

  • Self-hosted LLM platforms like Open WebUI or LibreChat

  • MCP, Tool Calling, Agent Frameworks

  • Infrastructure as Code (Bicep, Terraform)

  • Experience in a support, solutions, or customer-facing technical role

  • Experience working across multiple companies, tenants, or a group structure

This role is not for you if you

  • want to spend most of your time building new AI products from scratch

  • are looking for ML research or model training

  • only want to work with engineers and avoid direct contact with business departments

What You Get

  • Real Responsibility: 10+ companies, one platform, and you ensure that AI works there

  • A Small AI Core Team with direct access to C-level. Decisions are made quickly.

  • Impact Beyond Your Platform: What works in your companies will become standard for 55+

  • Permanent Full-Time Position, remote-first with occasional in-person meetings

  • Development: Talent reviews, events, and conferences. We hire people who want to grow with us.

How to Apply

Send us your resume and answer this one question in German, maximum 200 words. You do not need a cover letter.

  1. Tell us about a system you operated in production that failed. What happened, what did you do, and what changed afterward?

We look forward to your application!
