AI Engineer (m/f/d)

We are looking for experienced AI Engineers who not only demonstrate AI but also make it productive – as part of complex business applications that must support our customers' daily lives. You are a software developer with real engineering depth, ideally with full-stack experience, and you are comfortable in cloud environments like AWS and/or Azure. You think in terms of LLMs, agents, and data-driven services from the outset – and know where they make sense from a business perspective and where they don't.

One focus for us is on Agentic Engineering: systems that don't just respond, but act – with tool access, multi-stage workflows, state management, error handling, and clearly defined boundaries. This is precisely where the prototype is separated from the solution that can be handed over to a client with a clear conscience. And this is exactly where we need people who can do both: understand models and build robust software.

What's important to us: this role remains hands-on. You build it yourself, deploy it yourself, debug it yourself.

• Concept, development, and further development of AI-powered software solutions – from the initial idea to stable production operation
• Agentic Engineering: Design and implementation of agentic systems – tool and function calling, orchestration of multi-stage workflows, context and state management, retries and fallbacks, Human-in-the-Loop, and sensible guardrails
• Design and implementation of LLM applications: RAG pipelines, structured extraction, evaluation, observability
• Integration of ML models, Foundation Models, and data-driven services into existing or new systems – including the APIs, data flows, and infrastructure around them
• Hands-on development of scalable, maintainable, and performant applications on modern technologies and cloud platforms (AWS Bedrock/SageMaker, Azure OpenAI/AI Foundry or similar)
• Identification of AI use cases in customer projects – and an honest assessment of when an agent is the right answer and when a deterministic solution is better
• Agentic coding in your own daily work: productively and responsibly using AI tools in development, review, and delivery – and showing the team how it's done
• Technological consulting for our clients on architecture, technology, and make-or-buy decisions
• Ensuring code quality through clean code, tests, reviews, and best practices
• Active participation in shaping our growing AI competence field – setting topics, contributing knowledge to the team, establishing standards

• Several years of experience in modern software development, ideally in a full-stack environment – you are and remain a developer
• Practical experience with LLMs and generative AI in real projects: Prompting, RAG, Embeddings/Vector Databases, Function Calling, Fine-Tuning, or Agent Frameworks.
• Experience or serious interest in Agentic Engineering – you have already taken an agent beyond the demo stage or are eager to do so
• Solid understanding of ML fundamentals and data processing – you know what a model can achieve and where its limitations lie
• Cloud development with AWS and/or Azure, including CI/CD, containers, and Infrastructure as Code
• Proficiency in Clean Code, SOLID principles, and the design of clean software architectures
• Independent, responsible working style with strong analytical and conceptual skills
• The ability to develop pragmatic solutions for complex requirements – and to think outside the box
• High motivation and passion for software development and for a technology field that reinvents itself monthly
• Very good German language skills (C1) in speaking and writing, as well as good English language skills
