Advisor Technical Replacement Traffic Signaling

For Rijkswaterstaat, we are looking for an Advisor Technical Replacement Traffic Signaling.

You will work on the Vervangen Verkeerssignalering (VVKS) program, which focuses on replacing all road-side systems for traffic signaling of Rijkswaterstaat with a new type of system: iWKS. You will be involved in replacing gray cabinets with equipment between portal signs, replacing the portal signs themselves, and setting up network connections with the traffic control center. To achieve this, you will coordinate between different organizational units within Rijkswaterstaat and work together with market parties via contracts. You will do this within a political and bureaucratic complex organization.

Tasks and responsibilities

• You advise on the technical scope and realization approach of iWKS-replacement projects within VVKS.
• You translate program objectives into request specifications, functional designs, and contract documents.
• You guide the preparation and realization phase, including monitoring interfaces with other chain departments (such as CIV, regions, VWM, RITS).
• You prepare inspections and conduct risk assessments in collaboration with regions and market parties.
• You support SSK-ramifications and financial considerations within established program budgets.
• You monitor progress and quality of execution, signal deviations, and advise on adjustments.
• You evaluate design and realization decisions.
• You are the content point of contact for iWKS- and DVM-related questions directed at regions and contractors.

Task result

• You deliver technical advice on scope, approach, and execution of replacement projects.
• You set up technical request specifications and contract documents (DO/UO/contract level) and align them.
• You evaluate designs and realization documents from contractors.
• You provide advice and input for decision-making within the VVKS program team.
• You ensure alignment and secure interfaces with other DVM- and (i)WKS systems, regional projects, and disciplines such as CIV, VWM, and ICT.
• You align risk analyses and inspection preparations with regions and market parties.
• You contribute technically to planning, phasing, and budgeting (SSK) within established program budgets.
