Job Description

The Commando Forces (KCT) conduct special operations worldwide under high pressure and in challenging circumstances. To ensure these missions are successful and safe, an optimal security and intelligence position is essential.

As a Security Advisor, you will work within the Security Section of the KCT. In this role, you are close to the operations. You look broadly at security: from physical and personnel security to cyber security and protection against hybrid or asymmetric threats. You ensure that risks are identified in a timely manner, that security is guaranteed, and that operational units are optimally supported.

In addition, you are the permanent deputy to the head of the team. In the absence of the head, you will be the functional point of contact for the team and manage the daily operations.

What will you do?

• Advise and prepare reports: You provide the team leadership and the various units within the KCT with expert advice on the entire security spectrum. You translate complex issues into clear advisory reports and practical solutions.
• Process monitoring: You monitor the security processes within the KCT and ensure the correct implementation of security policy.
• Acting leadership: In the absence of the team leader, you will perform managerial tasks, including conducting progress and development interviews with team members.
• Knowledge transfer: You give presentations and briefings on security topics to maintain a high level of security awareness within the KCT.
• Networking and coordination: You liaise intensively with various internal departments and other parts of the Ministry of Defence.

• Strong skills in networking and stakeholder management.

Other Employment Conditions

Defence offers good secondary employment conditions. From 2025, Defence employees will no longer receive holiday pay and the year-end bonus as separate payments, but will build them up monthly through the Individual Choice Budget (IKB). The IKB for Defence employees amounts to a total of 16.33 percent of the salary. With the IKB, Defence employees can decide for themselves when, what, and how much budget they spend on time, money, or fiscal facilities. This can be up to the maximum of the monthly accrued budget.

The IKB can be used for:

• A maximum of 15 percent of the salary can be used monthly for the exchange of the travel allowance for commuting;

Special Provisions

A security investigation (VGB) is part of the application process.

It is necessary that you have Dutch nationality as a civilian applicant. The ability to present a Certificate of Conduct (VOG) is a condition for employment. In addition, a security investigation and reference check may be part of the selection procedure. This involves a background check on, among other things, criminal records and financial matters, which takes an average of 8 weeks.
