Job description

Job Objective:

The Advanced Controls Engineer is a professional trained to design, develop, implement, maintain and optimize robotic and automated systems to increase efficiency and productivity in manufacturing by combining knowledge of mechanics, electronics, programming, vision systems and industrial communication networks.

Main Specific Responsibilities:

- Automation specialist

- Identify automation and robotics projects in productive processes

- Manage and implement automation and robotics projects

- Collaborate with engineers on implementing automation and robotics projects

- Documentation and training

Specific Tasks:

  • Continuous evaluation of existing manufacturing processes to propose optimization improvements through automation and robots.
  • Analysis of the profitability of the project to justify its execution (cost-benefit)
  • Preparation of technical proposals and justifications for projects
  • Bidding and participating in the process to ensure maximum profitability and that the selected technology meets plant standards
  • Follow-up on projects with a multidisciplinary team (manufacturing, quality, production, maintenance)
  • Ensure that the selected technology (robot, control, devices) meets safety, quality, efficiency, and cycle time requirements
  • Active follow-up with suppliers and teams to meet project deadlines
  • Ensure correct anchoring, support, and workspace for automation or robot
  • Ensure correct connection, configuration, and setting of automation or robot
  • Ensure correct teaching of automation or robot
  • Ensure correct integration of automation or robot, actuators, and movements to the work cell
  • Ensure optimal functioning of the manufacturing process between automation or robot, material, and workstation
  • Ensure correct programming using different languages ST, POO, SFC and communication between PLC, sensors, actuators, controllers, peripheral systems, and robot and workstation
  • Ensure correct execution of HMI interface between machine, automation, robot, and operator
  • Ensure correct and optimal functioning of the complete integration (automation and/or robot)
  • Ensure correct validation based on plant-defined standards
  • Ensure correct documentation and project closure
  • Train support team to achieve a successful 'Handshake'.
