Accountant with Property Accounting
Job description
The Staff Accountant with Property Accounting will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing the financial aspects of property accounting within our organization. This position requires a deep understanding of property management principles and practices, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting and compliance with relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate property financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and reports for assigned properties, ensuring compliance with property accounting standards.
- Conduct regular reconciliations of bank accounts and other financial records to ensure accuracy.
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes for properties under management.
- Coordinate with property managers to gather necessary financial data and information.
- Prepare and analyze variance reports, providing insights to improve financial performance.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures, as well as federal, state, and local regulations.
- Support the preparation for audits and respond to auditor inquiries as needed.
- Identify areas for process improvements and implement best practices in property accounting.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in property accounting, real estate accounting, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software; experience with property management software is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
