POSITION TITLE: MECHANICAL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN

Location: NT 0828

Salary: $78,000 to $83,000 per annum

Main Duties: Conduct tests of mechanical systems, collects and analysis data, and assembles and installs mechanical assemblies in support of Mechanical Engineers and Engineering Technologists.

• Assemble, install and modify mechanical components, equipment and hydraulic systems
• Carry out routine and preventative maintenance following engineering instructions
• Test mechanical systems and equipment and record test results
• Collect technical data and assist with calculations, diagrams and reports
• Prepare drawings and basic designs under guidance of Mechanical Engineers and Engineering Technologists
• Support engineers in the development of mechanical equipment and plant
• Detect equipment faults and help identify repair solutions
• Assist with inspection, servicing and upkeep of machines and plant
• Estimate materials, quantities and equipment required for jobs
• Assist with workshop, field and laboratory testing activities
• Ensure completed work meets technical standards, safety rules and regulations
• Provide technical assistance to staff, engineers, management and suppliers
• Maintain accurate maintenance and ordering records using the MEX system
• Keep tools, equipment and work areas clean, safe and well organised

Experience Requirements:

• Exceptional teamwork, customer service and time management
• Ability to function under pressure and manage staff
• Strong technical understanding of mechanical engineering principles and maintenance, with relevant tertiary education and/or experience;
• Strong communication skills, ability to write reports and correspondence, ability to speak clearly and effectively with internal and external contacts;
• Strong emphasis on accuracy to ensure a consistently high quality of work;
