ABOUT THE ROLE The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Engagement Officer (Indigenous Mentor) - Gippsland role is a key position within our organisation that focuses on building relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in the Gippsland region. As an Indigenous Mentor, you will be responsible for developing and implementing programs to engage and empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, as well as providing support and guidance to our staff and volunteers. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and implement programs to engage and empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people Provide support and guidance to our staff and volunteers Build relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in the Gippsland region Collaborate with other teams within The Salvation Army Australia to develop and implement initiatives that benefit Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g. social work, community development) 2+ years of experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities Strong understanding of the needs and issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to travel regularly throughout the Gippsland region BENEFITS Competitive salary package Generous superannuation scheme Opportunities for professional development and growth A supportive and inclusive workplace culture
