Job description

As a 1st Field Measurement and Calibration Technician, you will work within the Technology Group Defense Special Products of the Directorate Material Maintenance (DMI) in Den Helder. You will work on specialized measurement and testing equipment for weapon systems and technical installations of the Royal Netherlands Navy, among others.

Measuring is knowing, and you understand how important the delivered measurement data is for the users, and you can present this through clear measurement reports. Within the Geometric Metrology department, you will ensure that the armed forces can rely on reliable installations on board our ships. You will work with various measuring equipment on-site and in the measuring room, such as; theodolites (Total stations), calipers, micrometers, electronic leveling systems, laser alignment equipment, collimator sights in combination with plan mirrors, laser tracker, and 3D scanning equipment. Sometimes you will perform work at other locations in the Netherlands or abroad.

• Performs accurate measurements (whether or not) according to procedures and documents the measurement results. Analyzes malfunctions and repairs electronic and mechanical defects in measurement and testing equipment.

• Verifies that the equipment used fully complies with current standards and specifications. Develops calibration procedures and measurement instructions for specialized equipment.

• Analyzes and resolves malfunctions, ensuring that the equipment can be used without problems.

• Accurately prepares the measurement procedure used and processes the obtained measurement data into a measurement report.

Must-haves

• You have completed an MBO-4 education in mechanical engineering, precision mechanics, or civil engineering (road and water construction), or a comparable technical field.

• Experience with (geometric) measurement.

• You can analyze and solve technical malfunctions based on measurement data.

• You work accurately according to technical procedures and quality standards.

• You can understand and apply technical information, including in English documentation.

• No fear of confined spaces and working at heights.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with calibration of measurement and testing equipment.
