1:1 SEN Support – Deaf Student in Hemel

We’re looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a deaf student in a welcoming SEN school in Hemel. This is a fantastic opportunity to help a child thrive in their learning environment.

Position Details:

• Role: 1:1 SEN Support
• Location: Hemel, Hertfordshire
• Start Date: ASAP
• Contract: Full Time, Term Time

What the role involves:

• Providing tailored 1:1 support to a deaf student, ensuring access to the curriculum
• Using effective communication strategies, including British Sign Language (BSL) if required
• Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement individual learning plans
• Supporting social and emotional development in and out of the classroom
• Creating an inclusive, positive learning environment

What we’re looking for:

• Experience supporting children with hearing impairments or SEN
• Knowledge of BSL (desirable but not essential)
• A patient, empathetic approach and strong communication skills
• Ability to adapt and work collaboratively with school staff
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
